This young raccoon was left behind

by her fine fat siblings

when they scrambled abruptly

over the edge of my upstairs deck.

Smaller in size

and tending to caution,

she huddled and gazed with nervous eyes

at the woman and her cat.

We gazed back transfixed:

Pearl and me.

The dear little creature began to pace.

This way…

and that way.

Had she found that action

can clear the mind of confusion,

sharpen the instincts,

even change one’s perceptions?

Can lost turn to found?

Boundaries fade away…

an escape route appear?

Bravo, little friend!

Fare thee well…

Marvelous, Leif! So clear, and as always a great emblem for us all.

Thank you, Kendall. These posts seem to have there own timing. I labored over it on Saturday and deleted it. On Sunday it came streaming through. Clear…as you say. The way was clear; the post was clear. Hmmm…
